During Spring 2022, I looked in the mirror every day and told myself I wasn’t going to live past 2024. Even though I didn’t go through with my plan to drown myself in the Puget Sound, I still didn’t want to be alive. The death of my partner was the most painful loss I had ever endured, and I truly felt lost without him.

The vindictive side of me had also resurfaced after his passing. Why did someone who was so pure and loving have to die, while both of my abusive exes were still alive? Why did they get to live while I was grieving?

So I gave no fucks and recorded the album I would’ve been too scared to record otherwise.

Everyone has a dark side, one that can be darker than they would readily — and comfortably — admit. There were times I was taken aback by mine. That part of me bled to the point where I almost got sent to inpatient. This isn’t a flex or sympathy plea; this is where I was during the recording process and I’m not ashamed to admit it.

This release is the true end of an era. It’s the last thing I recorded while believing I would be gone within a few years. I never went to therapy after leaving the abusive relationships I experienced when I was younger, and this healed me.

Noise is life. Owning the ugliest parts of yourself is liberation.
